Hello everyone, looking for some advice, my Orpingtons both have black feather colouring around their neck, does that mean they are mixed breed? I’ve had them about 2 months, they were 12 weeks old when I got them. I’ve also just been to my first poultry show in the weekend and couldn’t resist 2...
So after 2 unsuccessful (and very sad) attempts at incubating eggs, I was kindly given two 2 day old buff Orpington chicks . Hand raised and both very friendly. When they were little they would snuggle on my shoulder underneath my hair and go to sleep! Now 7 weeks old. However I think one may...
Hello everyone, looking for advice, I finally have 2 beautiful Orpington babies about 4/5 days old, I made a box for them from a big plastic bin, mainly to keep my curious cat out! But once the heat bulb is on it emits a plastic smell, gets warm but not hot. Is this smell toxic for the chicks...
Thank you for your helpful advice, I really appreciate it. I’ll get a humidity reader, good plan. At least I won’t go crazy guessing the humidity! Does outside noise affect incubation? As in on the kitchen bench with an 8 year old boy running around making 8 year old kid noise

Hello everyone, I’m very new to this... I’ve been attempting my first incubation and started with 6 eggs, at day 8 two had blood rings, and at day 14 two were definitely moving, I wasn’t sure about the other 2. Anyway, I went into lockdown at day 18. Day 25 I opened the 4 eggs remaining after...
