Hi my roosters favourite hen has been shagged ragged and today I see he’s broken one of her growing wing feathers and she’s bleeding. I wondered if anyone has a pattern of a wee protector suit I could make for her at home?
Thanks
Just wanted to share this story. I have a light Sussex and two bantams that are raising one chick together. It’s been so cool watching them, they all sat on some eggs together in a nesting box in main coop. Normally I separate the broody mums and leave them apart from main flock till chicks are...
Two year old light Sussex hangs out by herself, not sure if she’s laying. Started growing spurs and her face looks different plus she’s grown some pointy neck feathers and her body shape has changed lol
I’ve heard of hens doing this because of an ovary problem? She seems ok other wise, just acts...
So I culled the last of my young roosters six weeks ago and today I found a hen sitting on some eggs in the bushes. I removed some from her and not at all expecting anything to be in the eggs, I smashed one on the ground for the dog as I do sometimes for a treat. To my horror there was a chick...

Thank you everyone yes I have locked her in with her two babies. They are doing ok, tiny wee chicks cause she’s little too, only 6mths old so I was surprised she’s gone broody so young. I’ll post a pic when I get home :)

Would...
Thank you for your reply, ok yes it is also winter here and we have had a lot of rain recently. Which antibiotic would be best if it’s a resp infection? I’ll keep her inside and monitor her first.
My bantam just started this odd breathing sound, she was fine earlier.
Sounds like a duck, her breathing sounds “chesty” also. I’ve looked down her throat and doesn’t appear to be a foreign body, crop feels normal, comb red.
Can’t get aviverm till tomorrow. Can I give her anything to ease this...
