Yup.. Fingers crossed! Try not to stress.. Its more than likely it wont be perfect, but hopefully you get a few babies and learn a lot. I have a group of pretty terrible forgetful mummas, so to save heartache I collect eggs every morning, and if I want babies I store the eggs until I have a good...
I think build her a little nest where she can sit upright, restrict her movement until she improves - she might get better, I've seen it on this forum before.
@amiga
Ducks - very good mumma ducks I should say - will manage their eggs this way, giving the best of their attention to the most viable eggs. How they know which ones, I don't know, but it seems like you have a VERY good mumma there. Good luck, and I hope to see some pics of her young ones!
Hi guys, I have some ammo wormer which is abamectin with montral tartrate, some equest, which is moxidectin, and some Levimasole. My birds are rarely wormy due to my consistent management, but a couple of new birds have worms. I'm going to make fresh egg and biscuit with a little chilli and...
Stormys limp is still pretty bad, she looks like she's getting a sore eye now too. I'm just keeping an eye on her. All the others are great, I'm so proud of varia
Here we are. Big Day!
Varia with her pals. She is with her sister Ephinny and they used to pal around with Syanne, purebred pekin killed in the attack. The drake Abbey is actually Varia's son. She still comes in at night, but is very mobile.
Stormy hanging out. She has a...
Hmmm, I can get manuka honey for sure (its native here lol) but will that actually help it heal? I'm thinking she's a goner and I've been upset about it cos she's a daughter of one who died in the attack
Stormys doing great, I probably wont get pics up til after Christmas now but I will get there!
Ok, problem 2, Que (yes her name is Q) she's a small pekin call cross. Her butt keeps falling out. Its been going on for a few weeks. Its usually just been a small pink lump over her vent and I would...
Little egg died. I tried my best but the temp fluctuations must have just been too much. Fyi today and yesterday we are having a serious rain event!
I'll take some pics of varia, stormy and the ducklings today, varias doing so great
She's looking much better, and last night the little last egg was having a shake. Another bad heatwave today, going to have to be vigilant.
Its hard for me to let them go too, but the reality is when we move out of Sydney we will need sources of income and I am very good at raising ducks, so...
I will probably keep them, but I will need to do some flock shuffling because I kinda want to keep everyone.... Little tawny duck is very protective of his little bud!
Will keep an eye on miss Varia and update soon.
