    She's really good with the chickens, but sometimes she gets too close. My red sexlink pecked her in the ear and drew blood. She's lucky this one just told her off!

    Anyone in the Bay Area?

    I helped a friend out by directing her to the chicken ordinances link, where we discovered that she CAN have chickens where she lives! Yay! But now I am trying to help her find a place to get them. She is in Fremont, CA. Anyone in the area know where she can get some chicks?

    Is this normal? I picked this egg up today, it's from my red sexlink that laid the "torpedo" egg the other day. It's wrinkled at the top and has this dark brown spot on the bottom. My hens get plenty of calcium in the form of yogurt and oyster shells. This is the long egg she laid the...

    4 week old chicks suddenly making noise.

    They probably did get spooked. Or maybe one was talking trash to another one and everyone had to get a word in. It doesn't take much for mine to start squawking.

    One of mine did, too. And it was a bullet! (I put it side by side with a store bought egg to show the dramatic bullet shape)

    THIS is the way they repay me. By digging a hole in the corner of the run to lay. So I have to walk ALLLLLLLLLL that 10 feet to get it. Or send my daughter. Poo on them! Snobs!

    My hens JUST started laying. Like 4 days ago. My daughter picked this one up this morning right after our brown sexlink hen laid it. It's next to a large egg from the store. It's so long! I've never seen one this long before.
