Chicken Names- whats your chickens name?

Mmm...well, our mutt roo- Jasper buff orpington- Buffy...hey, it stuck. :) Australorp- Esther Ameracauna- Audrey Lavender orpington- Pearl. We had a barred rock we called Rosemary, but he 'turned' into another roo, so we found him another home. Shame, I really liked that name! :)

As far as the oil gland, I just read another post on here that said both had oil glands, hens have to waterproof their feathers as well... I'm a little confused now... :)

Chicken Ark - The "Coop de Ville"

I don't know why not, it could be done more "rustic" looking out of that type of material and would look great. I once sided and trimmed out a building with old wood from a barn I had torn down. The cedar T&G siding for our coop came from our local Habitat Restore.

Chicken Ark - The "Coop de Ville"

The plans said 4-5 "regular" or 6 Bantams. It also depends on if you have a larger run or let them free range. We have 5 and are planning on letting ours free range during the day so they will only use the loft part at night to roost and of course lay in the nesting boxes. I have seen the...
