morning,
This morning my duck Alice had her leg caught in some old string in a tree. I unhooked her and it’s not too bad of a cut but it looks about 1/2cm deep. It is bleeding a little. I don’t know if I should take her to the bird vet or if I can just wash her leg here at home? I’m mainly...
Just to add to this, I had this problem for about 8 months. I slowly introduced eggs again by eating fried rice with a bit of egg, then a pastry etc until one day I tried them again and was fine! I still don't eat duck eggs but can enjoy chicken eggs again. Hope you can try eggs again soon!!
Hey,
Was wondering if anyone could tell me what's going on with my ducks bill?
He is a very injured duck, he got attacked and has a spinal Injury - he had been stuck inside for the last 3 weeks and he can't walk. He's getting better slowly.
I just wondered why his beak is going like that? It...
Also what is gas x? I also am full of gas. I had surgery once where gas got caught inside my shoulders etc and was very painful, the abdominal pains felt so simalar to this. I'm from australian I've not heard of gas x?
Hello,
Just thought I'd let you know that I candle the blackish eggs, and there were def no veins or movement and when i (very carefully) smelt it closer, it had a slight smell. I will have to shoo Mindy off her nest and throw the rest i think, I will candle the pinkish one just in case - but...
How can you tell if she is broody?
She sits on them all day, comes out normally only
Once to eat and drink. She gets all huffy if you go near her nest and she honks a lot, also she is a bit aggressive to the other ducks. She actually seems a bit crazy when she sits on eggs. I guess I just...
They definitely had no smell. The shells were not opaque at all, they were all black nearly. I haven't thrown them in the bin or anything I just removed them from the nest as I freaked out and didnt want it to burst under my girl. I'm very confused now - but it seems as though they were bad...
I smelt them and they didn't smell rotten. I tossed the two darker ones as I read elsewhere that they were rotten. I thought it was an outline of a duckling I could see and that's where I was getting confused!
The dad is khaki campbell and mum is a buff orpington, so I don't think they have...
That is a real shame :( I tossed the two darkest ones. Do you think they will all be bad? I guess the other one which is going Gray is also bad. The other one is a sort of pink colour. She has no other eggs so I guess just wait for her next try. Is there a reason this happens?
Hi guys sorry to use this thread but I have a hatching question. I don't have an incubator and my girl has been sitting on eggs. I'm just letting nature takes its course.. But I checked out the eggs when she is having some food, I don't know what I am looking for. Can anybody tell of these eggs...
Thank you for that chart it helps slightly!
The thing is, I don't need to candle the egg to see this. When my girl hops off it is very visible all these blackened marks under the egg and they are not in a neat circle like that. Anyone else have and experience with this?
