Duck bill weird?

Hey,

Was wondering if anyone could tell me what's going on with my ducks bill?
He is a very injured duck, he got attacked and has a spinal Injury - he had been stuck inside for the last 3 weeks and he can't walk. He's getting better slowly.
I just wondered why his beak is going like that? It almost looks scratched or something but I know it's not. Any help would be great!

but also as seasons change bills do change colors but it also looks bruised to me
