We have two caucasian shepherds now! Soon to be three if all goes well. Dax, 21 months old: Zana, 6 months old: and we have a little pup who should be coming home in a month to round out our pack, Bozhidara, or Bo for short:

    Official LGD Owners Thread!

Ok. Taking a deep breath here so I don't come off as a *****... But look, the CMD(Really it should be Caucasian Shepherd, as it is in every other country, Ovcharka means "shepherd's dog") is NOT supposed to be like in that video. That owner is nothing short of a idiot and the breeder is even...

    Whats YOUR Dog's Name?

Mine are Daxton(Cheops Daxton Aurora Panonica), a 5 month old Caucasian Shepherd(Ovcharka). I call him Dax. And Yoshi (Swisstar's Hogosha Kiyoshi), a three year old smooth coat saint bernard.

    Post your rabbit hutches/cages

This is the hutch I recently made out of an old dresser, some 1x2s, and 1/2in galvanized wire. It has a full bottom and two half levels for climbing. It houses two dwarf bunnies, a lionhead and a lionhead/english angora cross. They are my starting mini wool stock that I'm hoping to expand upon.

    LSG that herds as well?

I'm hoping the only time he'll have to do any work is at niggt, when those awful coyote hybrids come out. These things are 80lbs and run in a pack, but yip and howl like coyotes. At this point I'm not sure if they are coy dogs or red wolves someone has introduced, as I know there was a campaign...

    LSG that herds as well?

I've just gotten a new pup who will be an interesting experiment. A Caucasian shepherd from working lines. I imported him from Croatia because only a handful of breeders here in the states raise them with livestock, and they tend to lean towards the 'soviet era' temperament which is higher drive...

    Update #2 Fowl pox/respiratory disease

bump! Other hen has been caught, and surprisingly, appears to be in perfect health. No nasal discharge, no spots on comb, no labored breathing. Clean, white feathers and no lice. She is by herself right now in a large dog crate, and appears to be the healthiest chicken in the whole yard, lol.

    Update #2 Fowl pox/respiratory disease

Well, so far everyone has been started on tylan 50 injections, including the cochins. I am giving them .02cc a day for 5 days, and we'll see how they look at the end of that time. In other news, I caught my white leghorn rooster and one of his hens last night. Roosters breathing is alright, but...

    Update: two chickens passed.

Some *possibly* good news today. We finally caught my leghorn rooster last night. I had my hubby and brother in law chase him down because his crow sounded horrible. Super hoarse and squeaky, so I knew he was sick too. Figures, as he's part of a flock of three that free range my property 24/7...

    Update: two chickens passed.

Well, so far none of the other cochins are showing any symptoms at all. The one sick cochin is not gasping, and the eyes are not swollen at all. Also still eating a drinking, though she seems thin(prominent keel bone). Rooster from what I've seen is still fiery and active, just had a hoarse crow...

    Update: two chickens passed.

Hi there again, just a quick update on the illness we're dealing with. The two delaware pullets with runny noses, dull smelly feathers, and black spots on their combs both passed within a day of each other, so now I am left with one sick cochin (9 week old bantam) and I think also a sick leghorn...

    LSG that herds as well?

I think the point that all of us were trying to make, is that it IS worthwhile to have a well trained dog in the same yard as chickens, because they will offer deterrent to predators just by guarding their territory. Bear foot said it wasn't worth the trouble, and I disagree. A dog doesn't...

    My bantam cochin chickies

Sorry, just took a new pic of them and had to share! I had to pull them inside because they were goofy and huddled together out in the rain in their small run instead of running under the covered portion. And since one already had a slight runny nose(now being treated thanks to another poster who...

Young pullets are sick? Any ideas what it could be?

Better size reference pic for the 4 of them.
