We always seem to have one Houdini Hen too. I've shoveled dirt around anywhere I think she's getting out but still haven't figured it out. 14 chickens in this coop/run and only one gets out . . multiple times each day.
We have ten hens in a coop and a large fenced run. They have plenty of room, plenty of food/water and crushed oyster shell. They were all purchased as baby chicks (Red Sex Links) this spring and have all been laying for probably three months. I believe that it's just one hen but almost every...
That's all I know. The black one is a lace something, no feathers on the legs, tail is shaped in a "V". Came from the Tractor Supply "assorted Bantam bucket.
The gray/white one I think is a rooster but don't have a clue as to the breed. No feathers on the legs either.
Thanks for your help.
Our Tractor Supply folks are super nice and helpful. They are never sure what kinds of chickens they have but we have the nicest, most polite folks working there.

We currently have 10 hens. We have a coop and lock them securely in there at night. In the day, they can go back and forth into the coop but we have a 5' x 15' run for them. My husband built it using pvc pipe and chicken wire. Here it is:
It's round and we can't stand up in it. We move...
I have 6 Red Stars and 4 EEs. What do you think about this egg? There's more about it on my blog if you care to read more but do you think this is a one time striped/speckled egg? I love it and would be happy if I got a bunch of these.
The first eggs from my Red Stars have been around 1.4 oz. Within a week of getting my fist eggs, I got one that weighs 2.6 oz but for the most part, the hens laying for a week to 10 days are giving me 1.6 oz. eggs.
