I just noticed today that I have an older silkie whose legs are splayed. I feel terrible for not noticing before now! She has extra long feathers and tends to stay under the Brinsea heater.
Anyone have experience with treating older chicks? It's about 7-8 weeks old.
Thanks.
Thank you for the response. I contacted the person I got the eggs from and she has only one rooster, a speckled sussex. She has gold laced Wyandotte hens too, so they must be speckled sussex roo over GLW hens. Mystery solved. Thanks again!
I hatched these four from what was supposed to be speckled sussex eggs. Two of them don't look pure to me. I'm thinking maybe SS x GLW? One is clearly roo. Do you agree that they look like crosses?
I think of the two that do look like speckled suusex, I have a pair, labeled SS pullet and SS...
I just candled and the air sacs are at the large end. I've taken them out of the turner. Any other advice or suggestions? Do I need to go ahead and pump up the humidity like an early lockdown?
First time hatching and I just realized the eggs were supposed to be small in down in the tray. It's day 16. What should I do? I'm afraid to turn them now and was considering taking them out of the turner and putting them flat ahead of lockdown.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks.
Darn. I guess it's an accidental cross. She raises show chicks and thought it was a welsummer. This is the 2nd time I've tried to buy welsummers and gotten something else. Guess I better educate myself a little more.
Thanks for the response
