Are Owls a predator of chickens?

Well fortunately, the owl has not returned that I am aware of. The girls have been quiet even though I am not sleeping well! Who would have thought that I now worry about my dog and my chickens more than myself...lol! Thanks for the information.

Are Owls a predator of chickens?

I suppose you aren't willing to give productive advice. I am a single woman who inhereted the chickens and coop and I know that it needs updates. My issue is getting help to do them. Any suggestions on temporary fixes?

Are Owls a predator of chickens?

Thank you. They do have a covered area that the Owl can't get to them. I wasn't sure how aggressive an Owl would be, if the Owl could get through the chicken wire. Do you know if other ways to deter the Owl?

I am assuming it was an Owl as it is 10 pm and dark in St Louis. I am leaving my outdoor light on to try to deter the bird. Is...

My concern is because it just started. And the fact that there isn't a shell bothers me. Am I blowing things out of proportion?

I guess my main concern is for the hen. Same feed that they were on, more free range time, established layers. I do see more diarrhea...is she ill? And K know nothing about molting... that's my next subject to read up on...

    Grand "Chick"ren

Okay, so here is current situation. Hens are a year old and all had been laying an egg a day. I have had them for 3 weeks. Same coop, same run, just moved them. They are getting a minimum of 3 hours free range time per day in their new yard. After the first week they were here, one quit laying...
