*Post pictures of your duck pen/coop!!* :)

We are in NW Ohio with chickens and are just starting our duck adventure with Pekin! Ours will free range our yard also, and I'm here scoping out ideas for coop/runs. I'm happy to see yours with snow! I was wondering how they'd do in snow.

Thoughts on what killed my girls?

The girls are all fine with our dogs being out and around them. Found a spot in the fence were we thought something could get in. We fixed the fence Monday so the hubs had me let them out Tuesday. Lost one of the young ones, only 2 1/2 months old. :hit I left at 7:35 am, though the kids got on...

Thank you all for your input! The hubs bought a live trap and we will be setting it out to see what we can catch.

Thoughts on what killed my girls?

Thank you. The only thing is, it's a fenced in yard. There's no way other dogs can get in. That's what makes it so frustrating. :barnie

Thoughts on what killed my girls?

Let me preface by saying we have had chickens for three years. They have 1.5 fenced acres on which to range. There's an empty grassland lot on one side and field on the other two. They are out sun up to sun down. We have never lost a bird. This week, we lost two- one on Sunday and one on Monday...

    Our finally finished starter coop

Thanks! It doesn't sound mean. Feedback is always appreciated! To address your concerns, there is a 1 " gap under the black gasket that runs the length of the coop to allow for airflow. We monitoring the loft and if we feel we need to provide more, we will drill holes in the end. As for...

    Our finally finished starter coop

Today we finally finished the coop we started building a few months ago! What should have been a couple of days project turned into a couple of months project due to modifications and life in general. We started with these plans from Ana White...

Thought they were supposed to eat scraps??

Is there a trick to getting your chicks to eat scraps? I have three 2 week old golden buffs (or golden comets or red stars or whatever you want to call them). I have tried giving them plain cooked green bean left overs, scrambled egg left overs, banana, tomato, and plain cooked hamburger and...
