    Newly hatched call duckling pics!

Wonderful! Cute little ducklings! Our little call duck is broody. Today it seemed she was in a trance. Did your call duck do that? If so, I know it's 26 day gestation, but how long after that behavior did the eggs hatch? Thank you, CVW

Fresh eggs with greyish orange dull egg yolks.

Thank you for your quick response. I should've taken a picture. I will post pics soon. I went through 4 eggs this morning before I found a good bright orange one. So I have to wait for them to lay again.

Fresh eggs with greyish orange dull egg yolks.

Hello, Our chickens are anywhere from 3-5 years old. We thought they were played out, but recently they picked up again. 3/4 of the egg yolks have an odd coloring. They are a greyish orange, really dull? We are not sure if they are safe to eat, or why they are like that. They never looked like...

How do I Move a Broody Hen w/Eggs?

Dirtbagchickens, It did not go well. We left the speckle in the protected spot, but found it had been attacked in the night but survived. We put her leftover eggs that were not destroyedin our incubator. None of them hatched. They were bad eggs and ended up stinking horribly, and were seeping...

Chick just hatched, now what? <Picture Added>

I just saw this. I don't have a lot of experience with this. I would take her out and put in a brooder. Hens can be mean to newbies.

Newly hatched chick with blister on foot

This is our first time ever hatching chicks. This chick is less than 24 hours old. We noticed this on top of her foot just a lil bit ago. What is it? How should i treat it?

Never mind. I did even more digging and got my answer. Chicken chick had an article about bad eggs in an incubator.Any smell is bad. So i took it outside and investigated. There was only yucka in the eggs. No chicks at all! They totally would have exploded! Hope this helps someone else out there.

Im new to hatching chicks. We had a broody speckle lay and sit on her eggs. She is just 3-5 days out from hatching. This morning we found the nest half ransacked. How do I Move a Broody Hen w/Eggs?

Recently we lost a broody leghorn that set up a large hidden nest outside. Now we are concerned for our broody speckle that has a nest outside the coop close to the leghorns old nest, but its a more protected spot. We still worry about bobcats and coyote. We want to move her into the coop, but...

What to do with club foot chicken?

I have a 2 month old silkie "Tiny Tim" that I believe had a club foot. We didn't know what to do about it, until now. We didn't even know what to call it. Will splinting work on a chicken on this age? Thank you...

Chickens Died After Eating Wolf Spiders without Killing First

I think that happened to our buff orpington today. 24 hours after my daughter saw her loudly struggling to eat a big funky "hairy bug with 8 eyes", the buff went limp, threw up, had diarrhea, and died. She hid in the coop all day. It was raining so we thought nothing if it, until my son went...
