November 2020, I became a chicken mama. Soon after, my first egg was laid. My two girls, Hennie and Pennie, are quite quirky, but I love them.
I lost Hennie to a possum in February 2021. Pennie was not snapping out of it, so I looked on Craigslist for a local mini farm. The gal that I found currently has EEs, Orpingtons (black & lavender), and bantam silkies. She lost a few others to the cold weather and also wanting to concentrate on these three breeds, she has sold a few adult chickens. I bought the last of her barnyard mixed chickens. So, a new chicken adventure for me.
My adventure continued with my freckled leghorn pullet being a cock-a-doodle-do. The gal I bought the chicks from took him back, made a few calls, and Gallino is now on a small farm outside of town. Yay!! I miss his quirkiness, but not the crowing and molesting my only laying hen. She ended up hiding most of the day due to him being a roo.
