Hello we are looking for a Shamo breeder in or near Wisconsin or if that's not possible anywhere. We are still learning about the breed & hope to learn a lot from this forum.
Thanks for any help.
Hello:D
We want to purchase just 4 or 5 Runner ducklings & I am having a terrible time trying to find anyone that will sell us just a few.
All the big hatcheries won't sell less than 15 or 25, way to many for our small piece of property & $$$, I even asked TSC if they would just add 5...

I got mine from Marry Ann Harley. From what I've heard, she's one of the best breeders in the U.S.
saladin has good birds, too.
Thanks!
Do they ship? How would I get in touch with them?

No matter what anyone thinks the snakes will eat your eggs & possibly the small chicks.
If you can the small wire, hardware cloth, will work & be humane for the snakes. But you will have to cover the top, sides & if you don't cover the bottom make sure their isn't any little opening...

I would attach hardware cloth or some wire thats less than 1/2" x 1/2" to all sides, top & bottom, if the bottom is exposed. The wire should be small enough to keep the snakes out.
I know a few pigeon breeders that had to do this to keep snakes out of their lofts.
Hope this helps.
I plan on purchasing the Nite Guard lights also.
I also have worked with many snakes, breeding & working with others who breed them, and I doubt if the lights would work on snakes since they hunt by sensing the animals body heat. plus in order to see the red light, the Night Guard would have...

I have been trying to find information about them and either I'm not looking in the correct places or there just isn't alot out there.
We live in central...
Evening all:D We got about 5 in. of snow & of course the plow broke so hopefully it will be going into the shop tomorrow and we'll have it back before this wkend. Heard more snows come'n then!
Guess I'm lucky cause our little Serama's stay inside all winter. We don't have to worry about...
Hello to all my fellow Wisconsinites! I've been lurking here for a while but just got up the nerve to post... you could say I'm shy.
At this time my DH & I are planning on raising Serama's, we have 9, we also have a pigeon sanctuary where provide a forever home to unwanted & handicapped...

The information that I was reading about how to incubate Serama eggs said that 102 degrees or higher would kill the embryo's, so I didn't want it to get up to 100. But you could be right that 100 degrees is'nt too hot.
Hello all,
I was incubating 18 Serama eggs in a Hova bator incubator with egg turner & fan, the temps. were kept at 98 degrees, the humidity was kept at between 40% & 50%. Serama eggs hatch at about 21 days.
At day 17 I removed the egg turner in preperation in for the eggs to hatch. On the 22...
