I'm seriously considering starting a hatchery business(My game plan, critiques, advice, encouragemen

I've been considering selling/shipping eggs for hatching and I'd like to know if you had any luck with your brooding business proposal? I have 100+ acres of empty farmland in Alabama and could manage quit a few breeds of chickens. Right now it's just an idea but I'd like to know how your thing...

    Runt of the bunch

    Runt of the bunch

I have 2 barred rock pullets that are almost 4 weeks old and 2 Ameracuana's that are almost 3 weeks old. One of the Ameracuana chicks is significantly smaller than her sibling even though they are the same age. The other chicks are much more coordinated and chase bugs around the yard when I let...

    Backyard setup

A friend of mine has a few barred rocks in his flock and says that his fat ladies wouldn't even try hopping a 3 ft fence lol maybe mine will be the same.

    Backyard setup

I have two barred rock chicks and about 3/4 of an acre backyard that is completely fenced with a 6ft privacy fence. Instead of keeping them in a run, I would rather have the roam freely all day. Would the 6ft fence be high enough to keep them from flying over when they get older?

    Hey everyone!

Just got a couple barred rock chicks from the local feed store. I grew up on a cattle farm and enjoyed my egg picking duties as a child. I'm looking to give my son the same opportunity. He is 3 and LOVES the new peeps! Which is awesome BUT has also led to our first boo boo lol one of the chicks...
