    Update: we just spotted a black spot on the wing of one of the poults - apologies the picture is terrible, the mama was taking them into the brush when we saw it so we didn't get a great view. Also here is today's photo of the black mark on the female :(

    Yes!! Very good point. We've been trying to catch them to clip their wings and have gotten a few, but they're now very wary when they see the net come out, which makes it even harder. Our own fault - should have done it when they were younger! Now we know :(

    Oh thanks! I didn’t realize there is also a disposal fee. I don’t think the $50 is worth it to us... We will just have to wait and see if it happens to any of our other ducks in the meantime. Thank you so much for the information though, that is really useful and good to know.

    Thanks, that would be helpful! We are in North Carolina. It would be helpful to know what killed her so we know if it’s safe to sell or kill/eat our other ducks, or whether I should expect them to start keeling over next :(
