Hi,
I have a new beautiful Silkie roo and chick that have full beards and crests and can't see much. I don't plan on showing. Is there anything about trimming feathers around their eyes I should know? Is it okay to do?
Thanks!
Janna

So we have this hen that wasn't supposed to live. The feed store had doomed her death as she was too weak to put out with the other chicks. Of course I took her home. The vet told me that it was highly unlikely she would live. 2 weeks later, she appeared to be on death's door, and I took her...
Hi,
Is it possible to get 6 eggs? I have Lav. Ams from Louden Farms' project and am looking to add some diversity---your's are beautiful! I can pay immediately if you have some available.
Thanks!

So I had 26 eggs in the two incubators (I wanted to compare between the Brinsea and the Little Giant). I had 11 hatch total. 2 I probably pulled too soon as I didn't know what I was doing. 1 I saw movement but nothing hatched. The hatch rate for the Brinsea was 3 out of 7 which surprised me...
Mine are due 4/29 and 4/30. A little nervous as this is my first hatch. I split the eggs up between the Brinsea Advanced and a Little Giant with fan and turner. The LG has been hard to regulate temperature-wise. I'm not sure what I'm looking for exactly when candling, but the Brinsea eggs...
YEA! Thanks--would love to meet you. I actually all of a sudden am overrun with chicks as I picked up a part-time (#2) job at Southern States (great discount) and just today had a customer come in that wanted me to take over fourteen 6-week-old chicks because he just found out he has to...

I think your ones that are all yellow could be orpingtons, they look like mine did---I would say buff brahmas for your others, but their wings are coming in pretty dark and pretty quickly---and they are usually later bloomers---so maybe those are easter eggers?
I have 6 girls that are just starting to lay eggs, with 10 more chicks in the brooder. Someone that lives close was looking to get rid of their true Araucana Rooster and I said I'd take him as I like the idea of being able to breed for colored eggs, and I like the idea of a rooster around the...
Hi,
I'm new to the area and chickens as well---originally from Wisconsin, moved to Loudoun County in June. Have 8 young hens (just about to lay!) with a few more chicks on the way in the next few weeks. I am worried about foxes as well---my hens free-range all day---but have some pretty good...
