Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Hi Poultry Mum, I found this thread: http://www.forum.backyardpoultry.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8034539 on Backyard Poultry Forum and it has some DETAILED information about Australian incubators, specifically the Greatlander Offspring Incubator...

I guess it depends, it’s a little over $100, but mine has only lasted 4 hatches before starting to die. So that’s over $25 a hatch. If you only want to incubate a few times and perhaps not with valuable eggs then it’s fine. It’s also quite difficult to clean as a lot of gunk gets trapped where...

It’s still pretty mediocre, but ok for the price.

Stay away!! I just incubated a bunch of eggs with a similar one. Most seemed to develop ok, though I think I had to throw away 6 before lockdown. I luckily moved half my eggs to my more reliable Janoel one for lockdown. The one above had a lower hatch rate and my husband found a few chicks...

Sorry actually just doing some reading, apparently 80% is too high, even for lockdown. I live in a dry climate so I’m always struggle to bump up the humidity. I think 75 is max recommended and 65 is ideal. Though I think if you’ve done a dry incubation you can get away with a little more...

Is there water in there? I usually dry incubate with no water until lockdown at day 18 and it seems to work quite well. 80% would be perfect for lockdown

Hi Poultry Mum! I am also in search of a good incubator. I have had some success with the Janoel 18: https://alwaysdirect.com.au/janoel-digital-18-eggs-incubator-poultry-turner-thermometer-kit-fully-automatic.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIu6L_7sHl7wIVyGkqCh0tZgTzEAQYDyABEgIJHvD_BwE Although after 4...

    What breed is this rooster?

Thanks everyone! I should also have mentioned that he’s from NSW in Australia. So Jersey Giant is probably unlikely. Given the popularity of Australorps around here I feel it’s a pretty safe bet.:)

    What breed is this rooster?

I bought this guy from a poultry auction as a chick. He has two sisters who are much smaller and look like little, black footballs. He’s about 4 months old. I’m fairly sure he’s an Australorp, but he has a few copper/brown feathers on his collar. Thank you for your help!
