I rinsed it and put neosporin and then I came home today to find this…. Do you think this is a scab that is coming off? I tried to gently remove it with a qtip but it wouldn’t come off. Then I tried to remove with my finger but it was stuck on it & I didn’t want to yank it and potentially hurt him.
I think it was. I have rinsed but I am worried about what looks like something coming out of his eye. Possibly a scab. I tried to gently get it with a qtip but it wouldn’t come off and I didn’t want to rip it.
It’s not layer feed. It’s flock raiser pellets.
Hopefully another rooster just scratched his eye. He’s not running temp, his comb is not hot like it was when I first brought him inside.
I will get saline tomorrow. He can open it, it’s just really red. And it doesn’t help he keeps trying to rub it.
I have already looked in his mouth, it looks normal. So does his crop.
He has been inside for the last 3 days and I give him scramble eggs, yogurt, & fruit everyday.
1/4 tsp per 2 cups of water is what I was told. Does that sound right to you?
He can open his eye but it is very red. I am going to get saline tomorrow and rinse it.
He was born in Feb. They free range but are put up at night. They are given a choice of scratch feed or pellets.
His ears seem to be fine. He could have scraped his eye, we do have other roosters.
The only other symptom is green tint to his poop. I have him inside and have puppy pads down instead of shavings in hopes that nothing will irritate his eye even more.
He’s not the only rooster. He wheezed a little bit the first day but hasn’t since. But his comb is turning black on the tip so it has me worried. But it’s not warm to the touch. I have tried to find tylosin but can’t. Do I have to have a prescription for that?
What is wrong with my chicken. He won’t open one eye and his comb is turning black. I have been adding duramycin to his water but it’s not helping. What can I do?
I woke up this morning and my rooster was still on his perch which is not like him. I immediately went to check on him and his eye looks like this, but the other one is perfectly fine.
is it respiratory? I did a dose of diluted duramycin (orally bc I didn’t have a needle) and brought him...
can someone please help me with sexing these chickens. I hatched them at the beginning of March. These are the only ones I am indecisive about…. Or holding out hope they are hens too. Lol
I bought these chicks at tractor supply. They are bantams. Can anyone tell me what type they are? My aunt thinks they are silkies but I thought they have 5 toes….. these have 4? They all have feathered feet except the rust color one.
No, unfortunately there’s no other symptoms other than loose stool. She’s running around acting normally other than that which is what has confused me the most.
I change shavings twice a week. There’s never a smell or anything in our coop.
If it is MG what would I use to clear it up?
