Hi Friends,
One of our 1 year old RIR hens has not been herself for almost 2 days. She's slow moving and pretty lethargic. I don't think she's laid in a while, but doesn't seem to be egg bound. I have only been able to observe one dropping, which seemed yellow and had the consistency of egg.
Her...
Hi All,
Thanks for all the good wishes. Star is doing a little better. She has been under intense supervision until today when we let her "hang out" with the girls. She is still a bit slow, but is showing more interest. Her tail is up and has been eating! Shes' still not taking much water. We...
I don't have any pics, she's not very cooperative when we try to examine it! I guess we'll try to get her to the vet on Monday. If it's not a larvae then it might be a growth like an in grown feather if there is such a thing?!
We don't have any "dust" or know a place any where near us that carries it. Is there any where online to buy this stuff? Would be too long to wait?
Thanks
We think one of our hens might have some sort of burrowing larvae in her tail feathers. How can we remove it? Please help!
Also, how does this happen and how can it be prevented?
Are they poisonous? Are they a sign of something worse?
Thanks!

I did contact the only vet around who will see chickens and I hope they can see her. I have no idea what it'll cost, but I hope we can figure this out. I am anxious to see if we made any mistakes in feeding or care that can be remedied so every one else stays healthy.
Thank you all for your...
Her comb and wattles are not bright red anymore. Is this a good sign? She's still lethargic, but seems that the crop has gone down some. She had a good drink of ACV water and a snack of yogurt. Any other things we can do to make her feel better? Should we still withhold food?
Thank you all!
shes still not very active, and now it feels like her crop is full of air when we massage it she burbs and crop deflates but later it is blown up again
any ideas
