Is my hen going to become broody?

I'm not sure, a couple ways to encourage her is too give her a dark safe place to sit on the eggs and some hay to make it comfortable for her. Heat is also really important with chickens to go broody if your having fluctuations where its hot one day and cold the next like me I dont think she...

Is my hen going to become broody?

If you want her to go broody you can put some fake eggs in the nest and just wait to see if she will sit on them, also warm weather can cause broodiness as well, hope I helped

    Adding chicks

The rule of thumb is you never put larger chicks with smaller chicks they will bully until the smaller ones are dead. when the smaller ones are full of strength and grow nice wings and shoulder feathers that might be a good time to introduce them but supervise it carefully, if there is any...

    Bully chick

Shes most likely bullying her because the other one is smaller, weaker, looks different or has something wrong with her. the best thing to do would be keep em seperate and if you cant do that then make distractions like put different foods all around in the brooder and let them all scavenge for...

So much for what I thought was my broody hen

Yeah thats what I did, I didnt know that was a widespread idea but just be prepared for disapointment I did an experiment with a little giant styrofoam incubator and a homemade one made out of a cooler. I had a very high hatch rate out of the little giant and none hatch from the homemade one. If...

    When to change feed

For my chicks, starter actually wasn't necessary at all I just wet some normal chicken food, they say that starter chick feed has got minerals and other things the chicks need but you can put that in their water, if your asking when they will be able to eat large pellets of food I would say when...

What is the best chick waterer?

As for pooping in the food the chicks actually shouldnt mind it, I mean adult chickens eat poop bleh, but when it comes to poop in the food the best thing to do is when it gets overwhelming take the time to scrape it off a little, also Im not sure what your feeder looks like but their are...
