I had a hen whose waddles both swelt up: I’m still not exactly sure what was going on with her. When they went back down they resembled your boys. They also returned to normal after a month or so, you can’t even tell anything was ever different now.
It also resembles a dogs ear going back down...
Update on my roo.
He has become a bit more stable.
It’s super windy today, he isn’t falling over which would not have been the case yesterday.
Still eating and drinking.
No signs of parasites in poop.
They all eat a higher protein all flock food. Free range, no chemicals in the area, we are neighbored by an organic farm and all other neighbors have flocks as well. Calcium available. Treats normally once a day, as well as acceptable kitchen scraps. I have 8 birds, he isn’t getting an abnormal...
Looking for input on my rooster.
Yesterday the whole flock was clucking, it sounded as though one was screaming like something was wrong. When I opened the door there was a few flying feathers, and my rooster was flapping around, stumbling and crashing into the ground. Pretty quickly after it...
Man I wish! I got 2 “sexed” EE 3 months ago and they were both roosters. :barnie Her comb is not smushed down like an EE.
I did a little more research, I think she’s a RIR. And by research I mean I took a pic and asked AI, then google referenced pics lol.
She seems so lost. My adult girls were chasing her every direction but she kept coming back to my porch.. appears she doesn’t know where home is. We are on 10 acres. I did get her in a dog crate to quarantine. Seems real cruel to cage a stray chicken but here we are. however she has already...
We got home from church this morning and had an extra chicken in the yard..
ladies were clucking pretty excitedly before we left, so I’m pretty sure it had been here beforehand. I think she’s probably already used their resources, has quite the appetite. Older hens were running her off, I do...
Thank you for your input!
We do occasionally have ice/sleet/snow.
I was definitely brainstorming on the go with cutting the legs. I get that would not work, as hardware holding it would still want to be level. 🤦♀️
For clarification I do plan on putting a roof with shingles on the structure...
Ventilation questions!
Hey all, I have a few questions.
I have this old loft bed that I would like to design a new coop out of. Our original (dog house design) was a failure in terms of air flow..
I plan to keep it up how it is, and put hardware cloth between the slats on top. I will add windows...
I have 4 hens.
They are 7 months old, and generally lay every single day now. They are supplied with organic flock pellets, but mostly are pasture raised in a wooded 10 acre area. It was sporadic when they started laying, and we also had about 2 weeks of extreme heat in our area. In the heat...
So I cannot figure out how to upload a video.
I did want to update that she seems to have more energy today with everything added.
Crop is still giant. She was attempting to jump/fly which is about 4 days behind the others. Her tail feathers are also just barely coming out, as the others have...
I did start her on nutridrench.
I have a small amount of ACV in their water, I will swap to an electrolyte solution.
How much b complex should I give her?
