    to light the coop or not- what color bulb?

    we just started getting eggs this week and would like to extend the light for the girls does it matter what color light ? Red, yellow or a regular bulb, I have a leghorn that is starting to get a little mean and peaking the others, when they were little we used red does it make a difference now?

    What do I do now..when the grass is gone in the run?

    what do I use as flooring in the run when the grass is gone ,its getting kinda poopy in there. the birds are still a little young for letting out,we do let them in a temp. area with a moveable fence , but only for awhile.

    laying on the runt

    when the chickens are in the coop we always find the laying on the smallest chicken. we have 6- 2 rocks 2 leghorn 1 n hamp red and partridge rock ,the partridge is the smallest and that is the one they lay on...she was sun bathing the other day and one of the rocks went over and layed on her is...

    Raccoons

    we were having a problem with coons .I got the solar nite guard lites , its been 2 weeks and no sign of any coons not sure if this will last but so far so good....

    Can't be complacent too long...

    We also have a coon problem..they destroyed my strawberrie patch I had covered and all my containers on my porch where I was doing a salad garden..we bought nite guard solar lights before putting our chickens in the outside coop..so far no signs of the little buggers.not sure if this is going to...

    Birds that won't go to bed / How long till the new home is home?

    we just moved ours to the coop a week ago..the first few nights I had to catch them to put them in for the night. the next few days we keep them in the coop.now they go in and out all day long and when dusk come they are in for the night all I do is shut the door..

    what is best for water?

    Thanks so much for the ideas . after doing some looking around I think the nipples with the cups will do the trick. the coop is small.the run is good sized... and thanks for the pictures ..I am also going to make the wooden feeders I saw in the pictures..they stand on the feeder I have...

    what is best for water?

    so far I have been using mason jar waterer for in the coop and have to clean it 2 or3 times a day ...I was wondering if rabbit waterers work or will they leak and get the coop wet...and will they figure out how to use it?
