Hi Roger, I'm in Lindenhurst as well. West Gates Ave. my rooster stays mostly in the house. He does come outside only when I'm home, this way if he crows Back inside he goes.
I got the Rainbow layer package from McMurray. I got 6 EE"s, 7 brown leghorns, 3 white leghorns and a new Hampshire red. Plus the mystery chick. 17 total no loss. Rooster lives in house for noise control( Doesn't lay eggs) doesn't count. only 1 EE lays blue eggs others are Cream. so only 1 EE...
I'm going with:
1) Pullet
2) Roo
3) Roo?
4)Pullet
5) Roo
6) Roo
1) looks like a buff brahma the rest look like easter eggers. the very dark red or Brick red on wings is a very good indicator of a roo for easter eggers. best thing to do is wait for that tell tale sound.
I just wish I could leave him with his girls. Very talkative. I can have a rooster where I live, just once the neighbors complain he's gotta go. He has a house in my basement for now but I let him come upstairs with a diaper on. He takes to the diaper well. I hate to put him in freezer camp he's...
yes clean legs and a pea comb. plus his legs are a bluish green. was thinking EE myself just thought there was some usual breed out there. He's a total sweetheart. not Rooish at all at 22 weeks.
