Hey guys, I'm sure you've answered this question a million times, so I'm sorry in advance but where would you suggest buying chicks? I was hoping to raise a few in our garage under a light so when it's warm they'll be older and ready to lay soonish. We started off with 6 last year and between...
Yaaaa, I'm still hoping I'll find him a forever good home, but I do realize how hard it is. Poor fellas. As far as if he large fowl or bantam, I don't really know I'm brand new to chickens. He's pretty big I think.
@suncatcher
I hate to be one of those people who are sad about their cockerel because we love Timber so much, but I can't keep being in denial that he is a she haha. Does anyone know of a place that might want a Barred Cochin Rooster? He's about 5 months old.
Thaaaaats what I was thinking. She (now he haha) also acts a bit different, just more sketched out all of the time. Luckily Timber isn't a gender specific name Do you know at what age should I expect him to get loud?
@junebuggena
We have four chickens and I've been a little worried that the Barred Cochin or this Red might be roosters. They've never tried to cock-a-doodle-do and seem to act like hens, but this is my first go around with chickens and I just want to know what I'm looking for. The Red is about 6 months and...
We have four ladies and we have a coop with a run but let them out into a little larger enclosure when we can't be in the back yard with them and I was trying to think of what to plant there that might make it more appealing. I've tried some things that have been destroyed within minutes, which...
I thought it usually happened in the morning, so I'm confused as to why it was happening at dusk, but it would have also been her first time too so I'm sure she was just as confused ;)
hey there guys! I have a quick question!
I was wondering what an egg laying song sounded like. This is our first time owning chickens and we got our Rhode Island Reds in April, I'm thinking they were born the first week. We've been (Im)patiently waiting for our first eggs and tonight one of...
Since you guys are talking about laying for the first time, I was wondering what your songs sounded like. This is our first time owning chickens and we got our Rhode Island Reds in April, I'm thinking they were born the first week. We've been (Im)patiently waiting for our first eggs and tonight...
This is probably a dumb question, so sorry in advance haha but it is alright to let the chickens out to play in the rain right? Their coop is open as well as their covered run if they don't want to get wet anymore. I guess I'm worried they won't know when to go in if they get too cold or wet.
@aartThey do! I didn't realize that doesn't happen often (we haven't had chickens for long) the little girls will push themselves between the older ones and they all huddle together. I'm glad they get along, I was worried for a little. The youngest, Sassy, is a Speckled Sussex and definitely...
