Well, bummer. We live in a neighborhood that only allows a few chickens as pets and definitely not roos. I was really looking forward to a big fluffy orpington. Oh well.

Got a couple better shots of our suspects in question. The first is a lavender orpington and the 2nd is a bantam of some kind, was supposed to be another lavender orpington but tractor supply employees... 😬 Anyone have any ideas if we've got pullets or roos?
The darker gray one and the brown one were both sexed so I'm really hoping they're pullets. Goodness knows it wouldn't be the first time we've gotten a surprise though. Haha! It's the two lighter ones I'm questioning. I see them going either way at this point but it has been a while since we've...
I know these aren't the best pictures but does anyone have an idea whether we've got boys or girls here? We got them at Tractor Supply and they weren't sexed. The bigger one is a lavender orpington, the smaller one is a bantam of some kind. S/he was supposed to be another lavender orpington but...
Thank you! I let them all socialize today and they're actually doing really well. We've had 2 coops set up next to each other this whole time so they've been together but separate. Now I just gotta make sure they all go to bed in the big coop. Haha
We have 6 chicks that are about 6 weeks old and 4 that are a couple days younger. We've kept them separate for now just in case but we're wanting to move them all into one coop. The problem is that one of the 4 younger chicks is a bantam and is still tiny, we've named her Nugget. We didn't know...
We have 13 girls, 10 of them are laying right now. We have 3 nesting boxes in the coop and one on our back porch because they decided to lay in the corner there. They all want to lay in the same 2 boxes in the coop. If they can't lay in there, they jump our fence and lay in the neighbors yard...
Omg! One of our Ameraucanas laid her first egg today!! Talk about crazy timing! It looks more green though, I'm wondering if it'll turn a little more blue maybe?? Or maybe we just don't have Ameraucanas like we though?? Either way, we were over the moon excited!! :yesss::ya:celebrate:love
Can someone explain why my RIR sometimes lays eggs with little speckles and sometimes they're speckle free? We only have one other girl laying and she lays white eggs. The two others who could be laying are both Ameraucanas so we're expecting blue eggs from them. Anyone have any ideas?? :hmm
Oh, don't tell me that!! I may go crazy waiting!! These are our Ameraucanas, or at least we've been told by a few people that they're Ameraucanas. We love them whatever they are! :love
