That's also confusing, haha. They've been "bigger" for a bit but not as bright of a red. If he is a he, when would we start to hear crowing? We had a bantam that we just rehomed because he was crowing. We live in a neighborhood so we can't have roosters. 😔
I can't find my previous post for some reason. This is our lavender Orpington. I'm guessing she's a he but still can't say for sure. S/he's about 16 weeks at this point. Any guesses? That shredder gene is rough. I don't see any spurs starting and I haven't heard any crowing or trying to crow...
He's the cutest!! I'm sad we have to rehome him. But I also don't wanna get in trouble. We're technically only allowed to have 6 chickens. If you have chickens you know chicken math is real. Started with 8, lost 2, got 4 more. We'll likely be down to 8 again soon enough. I can't get lucky enough...
See, these give me hope! Haha. Still know my luck she'll end up being a he. Good thing there's a rooster rescue near me that I can take him to if that's the case. I have a bantam that I have to take down there but I wanted to wait to know for sure on this one too so I don't have to drive there...
Here's a few updated pics of the LO, anyone have any guesses? She's a our 14 to 15 weeks. I'm not seeing an spurs starting and haven't heard any crowing, or trying to crow, from her either. Her tail feathers do curve down a little bit could that be from the shredder gene?
A few more pictures. I haven't heard any crowing, or attempting to crow, from her. I know her tail feathers kind of curve down but could that be from the shredder gene? I still don't see any spurs starting. This girl is driving me crazy. 🤪
The comb is throwing me off for sure. I don't see spurs starting, but I also am not entirely sure when they would start to pop. The feathers are making me crazy! I would love to know so if she is a he I can take him and our other little guy to a rescue nearby. We live in a neighborhood so we...
I was able to get a couple decent pictures of this little hopefully girl. 🤞 Any ideas? Ignore the muddy lake in the background, we had a crazy monsoon storm come through on Monday and things are still drying out. 🤦🏼♀️
Here's a couple more pics! Ignore the mud puddle in the background. We had a giant monsoon storm roll through on Monday and things are still drying out. It was crazy! 😵💫
Ooohh, that's interesting! I'm really hopeful! Weeks ago I thought for sure she was a he, but as time went on I started second guessing myself. I took a gamble on what I thought were 2 LOs and ended up with 1 and a bantam. He's definitely a boy but really cute. Sadly he will have to find a new...
Yes, the comb is throwing me off. "She" isn't showing any other roo characteristics. Besides the chunky legs. But I was looking at pics online and some pullets have chunkier legs. 🤷🏼♀️ Maybe these pics show the tail better? It's so hard to get a good pic.
I posted a couple weeks ago asking about a couple chicks. The bantam is definitely a Cockerel, started crowing every so often a few days ago. But this one I'm still not sure about. "She" is about 12 weeks old. Any input would be great!
