The males probably get to the size of a Labrador, they are on the decline as they have a $15 bounty on their heads. As with a lot of places in the world, the forest and so their natural habitat is disappearing so they are seen in town more. The chickens seem to have a good instinct on things...
I'm imagining all safari scenes It's not all beaches and catamarans here but the weather certainly make life more fun. Not many folk get the northern banter!
We have green monkeys, would they harm chickens? We don't mind sharing our mangoes with them but it would be a different matter with the feathered members of the family
I hate to say it and never thought I would but...I do miss a drizzly rainy day walking ont moors with my dog. I'm not sure Boo (my dog) misses it, she's quite happy relaxing and enjoying her retirement and watching chickens with me!
There are a lot knocking about the island but it's the first time I've seen them in the garden, it appeared not long after the hens arrived. Could be worse, could be foxes! You must have some big predators over there, CT? Not in Gods Country anymore, eh?
We have two golden nuggets (but one is white...go figure) and we have two rainbows. They were brought in from the states as a dual purpose meat/layer bird. We will be grateful of any eggs but they are definitely pets and will not end up on any dinner plate! What do you have?
Hi Julie, I'm Lindsey and fairly new to this site as well as to keeping chickens. We have four 14 week old pullets and we love them! Lots of helpful tips on here.
Does anyone have any experience of mongeese? Our 14 week old pullets range the garden during the day and are shut away just before dusk in a secure coop (hopefully). Are mongeese a danger to adult birds in open spaces?
