Does anyone have any experience of mongeese? Our 14 week old pullets range the garden during the day and are shut away just before dusk in a secure coop (hopefully). Are mongeese a danger to adult birds in open spaces?

In my experience, mongoose are not a threat to adult birds. I should qualify this statement in that i only have 1 mongoose that visits my garden - not as a social group, (I'm assuming he's been forced out of his social group, due to maturity) so that may influence things. I have lost the odd egg to him but never had an issue with him messing with my chickens.

There are a lot knocking about the island but it's the first time I've seen them in the garden, it appeared not long after the hens arrived. Could be worse, could be foxes! You must have some big predators over there, CT? Not in Gods Country anymore, eh?

Not in Gods County - quite right! Where i live no, but if i was in the countryside, then it would be another kettle of fish. Monkeys are my only real pain - steal eggs, throw roofing tiles around and generally cause havoc.

We have green monkeys, would they harm chickens? We don't mind sharing our mangoes with them but it would be a different matter with the feathered members of the family

Not sure about that species. We have Sykes monkeys and they leave the chickens alone. Your chickens will let you know if they perceive them as a threat, I'd imagine.
