I HAVE READ A LOT ABOUT DIAMATEOUS EARTH TO HELP WITH LICE AND FLEAS AND TICKS....DOES IT WORK?...WHEN DO I USE IT?....DO USE IT IN MY BROODER?....IS LICE A COMMON THING WITH CHICKENS?.....ANY IFO YOU CAN SHARE WOULD BE SUPER APPRECIATED.....
My chicks are now 7 days old, and 14 days old...my brooder is a large deck box in my kitchen...what i want to know is if it is necessary to heat 24/7....it is in the 70's inside the house....and i keep the heat lamp pretty far up from the brooder and everyone seems comfortable....should i try...
I have handled my chicks since day one....i also will cover my kitchen table with paper towel and sprinkle some food out and bring them out in pairs for "playtime"....also several times a day i hold my hand in the brooder with food and they r starting to learn that my voice and my hand equal...
So i just joined byc yesterday and i am soo glad to see so many people from new hampshire...i am from rochester...i just got my first chicks on friday and i am in love....my big question is how do they do in the winter?...do they stay in their coop?.....do you heat or not?.....
well i actually have 4 dogs and none of them have paid any attention to the chicks....but it will be interesting to see how it goes once they r outside.....but one of my dogs was raised around chickens so she will be fine.....
