I have been getting eggs since nov/dec, the soft shell thing just started. Maybe the one just started laying and she just needs more time??? I have 3 BO and 1 GLW, i also have a GLW Roo
I got last mother's day, I haven't had chickens since I was a kid. Thanks for the advice
I have a hen whose has been laying eggs with soft egg shell and they are breaking, other eggs are fine, feeding oyster shell.... Any ideas or suggestions these hens are 10months old, they are BO and GLW Thanks
I just put my 8 week old chicks in their coop for the first time, I am also nervous how they will do with light/heat. I am in the 40's at night and the 50/60's during the day. I guess us nervous mom's will have to pray for each other:)
You can feed raw or cooked, I have heard most people feed cooked in winter. My little peeps ( 8 weeks ) love grapes, tomatoes, worms. I dont feed them lots, mostly their crumbles.
HI,
I am also a newbee, my question is the same except in my area (N. CA ) it is mid 50's-high 60's but skies are gray. Is it too cold for my chicks who are 6 weeks, some are not feather out all the way yet. Do I need a light in the hen house???
Thanks
I also am confused by conflicting feed instructions on treats. I have 4 BO and 4 GLW that are 1 week old, they are getting wing feathers on starting little tail feathers, treats w/grit available ok at this early age?
thanks for your input
Thanks for all your input, giving treats to 1 week old ckicks was something that I was wondering as well. I am the proud mama of 4 BO and 4 GLW they are the sweetest. If anyone knows about when I should introduce small perches and of what type of wood that also would be very helpful. Thanks
