    HELP! Cannibalistic Chicks!!

It may be an overcrowding issue. You stated that the RIR and SS are doing the worst picking. Try separating them from all the others.

Well, the dog got one of my (3) chicks..

Aww so sorry to hear that. I would keep antibiotic ointment on her tear. One that doesn't have a pain reliever in it. Betadine is also very good to use. Does she eat and drink well?

Help!!! Baby chicks keep dying don't know why

I would also like to suggest throwing everything the chicks had contact with away. Cocci is very contagious. Don't allow any healthy chicks near the sick ones.

    Sould I cull this chick???

IMHO and I'm no expert by any means, but he won't make it to adulthood if the flock start to realize his condition.

    Sad day

Aww, so sorry to hear about your loss. We lost 2 of our hens yesterday one from a respiratory infection and another from a possible allergic reaction to a penicillin shot my husband gave it. It's heartbreaking.

    Keeping Chickens and Ducks Together?

That's a pretty neat idea. I think I may try that with ours. You could just place the pool in during the day and watch them closely. I wouldn't think the chickens would be interesed in going near it unless they need a drink so keep plenty of water located away from it.

Ohhhh... I need help or I AM GOING TO CRY!!!!!!

Does the chick appear to be hurt? If not then I wouldn't worry. If it did internal damage you would know pretty much immediately I would think.

    Keeping Chickens and Ducks Together?

I'm pretty new to raising chickens and ducks but we have 3 adult ducks (1male and 2 female) and 6 hens and 1 rooster in a run together. Our ducks won't go into the coop so we just leave them in the run. They get along just fine.

Is it possible for a chicken to be allergic to penicillin?

No, the lungs are not located under the ribcage and the heart is placed farther up so I can't see how that would be possible cause of death.

Is it possible for a chicken to be allergic to penicillin?

Well our first thought was that he had mis-poked her. She moved and he got her just under her left rib cage instead of the left thigh. I just don't think it could have been that because she started reacting as someone who is having an allergic reation to a drug.

Is it possible for a chicken to be allergic to penicillin?

My husband noticed that one of our pullets had a bad respiratory infection. He gave it a shot of penicillin and she completely went limp and started gasping for air. We immediately took her in and held her to hopefully calm her. She died in my daughters arms. We are so heartbroken. She was so...
