Hmmm, good question. I'm guessing as long as the hen has a good calcium source all eggs should be okay, because the strength of the eggshell is affected by the calcium content of their food. What breeds are you thinking of getting? Here is a link to an article that shows factors influencing...
Some of my favorite hens have been Ameraucana's! I love the colorful eggs, and even when I cross bred my hen with other roosters, the 2nd gen ameraucana's still layed green, large eggs! They are a great beginner's bird because of all their positive aspects! I hope this encourages some of you to...
Your small barred hen looks like a barred rock x silver spangled hamburg to me, I have a few of those. Your other cockerel looks like a Buff Orp. x Barred Rock
I always keep my temperature at 98.5 deg. f. , and I pour a little water in the incubator every few days to keep the temperature up. I use a still air incubator and hand turn my eggs twice daily. I have always had at least a few chicks/ducks hatch, so maybe you guys are doing something...
The light colored one standing on the pot looks like a red-sex link pullet to me, I'm not sure though, the Darker red colored one looks like a cockerel to me. Do you have any more info/pic's? How old are your birds?

When I got my first pair of Cayuga's, I instantly fell in love, they are extremely cute as ducklings and beautiful as adults. My Cayuga's are my #1 favorite ducks, and I would recommend them to anyone!!!
My blues are by far my quietest ducks! They are very sweet and gentle, I've never had one bite me or attack any other birds, however they do seem to enjoy making a mess ;) . The only bad things about them is they seem to get eaten easily as ducklings and are poop machines!!!
