Right now they are in a medium sized cardboard diaper box with pine shavings and heat lamp. I'm feeding them whatever crumbly chick food the feed store people recommended. The little one's eye is watery today, other than that no other symptoms. Went to feed store today. Lady at desk said it...
I don't want to force their beaks open, but from what I can tell when they're peeping it doesn't look like it's swollen inside. These 3 are the only chickens I have. It's been suggested that they could have a sinus infection. What would that look like and what are other symptoms?
So, I pulled on one and it bled (I know...I'm a terrible chicken mom and I feel awful about it) The black things look kinda like feather casings. Is there such thing as in-grown feathers and what would I do about something like that?
I've had them for about 10 days, and they haven't been near anything in that time that could bite them. I have no idea where they were or what happened before they found me. I called around, but I really can't afford the $75 vet visit per chick. They have been scratching a lot.
Aloha, I am new to raising chickens. One of our chicks has a strange looking growth on its outer toes. Is this something I should be concerned about or should I just leave it be? It doesn't seem to bother the chick or hinder walking at all.
