    Thank you for your answer. Does that mean that she died slowly? It seems like it took a long time for her to be returned to me. I thought that euthanasia in that manner was supposed to be 30 seconds like it is with a dog.

    Today my chicken was euthanized using euthasol. I didn't see her during administration of the drug. After death (but not before), her face was dark purple. What would have caused this?

    She acts like she wants to eat. Even her very favorite, fresh corn, seems to hurt her. I'll keep trying different things. I just fear that there is something that I'm overlooking or not aware of that could alleviate the pain.

    I just checked again - no masses, nothing stuck and no smell. I did notice that the tip of her tongue is black but it looks like natural coloring.
