Emergency- my hens are being hunted - what is getting them!?

I apologize, so the weirdest part of this is that they are vanishing like ghosts. No evidence at all , no feathers no blood nothing at all, which is making it very difficult for me to understand or try to solve the problem.

Emergency- my hens are being hunted - what is getting them!?

Good morning all- So I will make this as short as I can while giving as much detail of my property as I can. I live in Louisiana on the bayou - yes there are gators here but it is currently cold and rainy. Also the bayou is about 100 ft down a steep hill and a gator has never came up onto...

Little look at how my birds are doing

Thanks for the info , that is such a smart idea. We had a horrible summer as well in southern Louisiana and we wound up adding more windows to the coop , but it barely helped my poor flock. They were mouth open & wings out all night. Luckily it is much better this week and more good weather to...

How reliable are automatic coop doors?

Personally I think it would be very convenient to have, especially for those who travel or come home late. My family enjoys spending our evenings with the flock and feeding them and letting them get used to us. That being said I enjoy going to close the door and make sure everyone is accounted...

Can you tell me the breed of my hen?

Yes! I haven’t seen or heard of a moss egger , I just researched it and she appears very similar in characteristics to a moss egger. I have Easter Eggers , she doesn’t have all of the same characteristics of a traditional EE, she is more like the Moss Egger. Thank you!

All My Chickens..... a coop opera!

I’m just now getting to this post and I am sincerely sorry for your loss. I have very close relationships with each individual chicken in my flock and I know you are especially close to your flock family. I enjoy the stories I’ve read so far since coming across your post and I know that this is...

All My Chickens..... a coop opera!

I have learned a very hard lesson about purchasing unsexed chickens. Also my 5 year old convinced me to hatch out a few as well. At least it’s out of our systems now 🤷‍♀️
