    6 months. She started laying at 4 months. I have another from the same hatching who still has not laid at all. Is this normal? They are Speckled Sussex

    One of my hens went broody. After about a week of this I blocked her access to the nesting boxes. After about 4 days I allowed access again and she did not resume the behavior and all around resumed her normal behavior. It has been 3 weeks but she has yet to lay a single egg since then. Before...

    Odd eggs

    Yes they are on layer feed and have free choice oyster shells. I dont think I would call her a new layer. She started laying in March of this year.

    Odd eggs

    One of my hens started laying eggs with a calcium residue on them a week ago and now for the past two days she is laying eggs with no shell. She is one of three Olive Eggers. They all eat the same things but other two lay very firm and smooth eggs. So if it is not her diet what else could it be?
