I set eggs tonight. First time for me, trying out my brand new incubator that I got for my birthday, and I'm starting with fertile eggs from Trader Joe's. We'll see how it goes... They were older than I was hoping for, so I might go back tomorrow and look for fresher eggs and add them in.
I have around $400 and can put in a some more if it gets me what I really want. I was thinking I'd want to incubate around a dozen at a time... at least for now.

So, I have been working feverishly to get my coop finished, and as of today it's fully enclosed. How soon is too soon to put little ones out in their brand new house? They are quite cramped in the brooder and don't seem to need the heat lamp too much anymore, even though they're still quite young.

I've just bought by first chicks and I'm too excited to keep it to myself! I bought 3 white leghorns from Western Ranchman this afternoon, and I'm going to add 3 gold sex-link when they get them in next week.
