Best chickens to start with.
Slowly gathering info about this chicken thing, and now I'm wondering about chicken breeds. Ideally, I would like very docile, social, quieter chickens. I want them to do well with children. Thank you all for all the fabulous replies. I figured that the initial costs would be quite high, but I assume that once you get going it somehow evens out eventually, LOL.
