Thanks Miss Lydia he's been standing and sitting on her and pecking her feathers. She doesn't have any eggs at the moment but it's about time she lays another clutch so maybe that's why she's provoking him. I've separated them for the day so we'll see how they go tonight. Thank you :p
They have yes since my drake was a week old. Whenever I see him attempt to mate with her she definitely holds her own and wins haha. But today my drake kept ending up on top and I'm just concerned if I'm not around and it happens he might hurt her. She's tough but still very small compared to him.
Can anyone share some advice with me please :)
Just today my female Muscovy and drake started fighting. They're both usually very placid duckies and get along well. My female is 9 months and a bit broody and my male is 6 months old. My female kept provoking the male by going up to him and biting...
Thank you Miss Lydia I like to hear other people stories and that makes me feel better, I know it's natural for her to be broody but I will try a few of the things you've suggested like closing the door and keeping her outside with her friend in the day time. I just don't want to stress her out...
Nesting help!
Hi I'm just after some advice on my female Muscovy duck who has laid her first clutch of eggs. This was about a month ago. They weren't fertilised so I took the eggs away and she continues to sit in the nest... She hasn't laid any since but will not come out. I take her out once a...
Thank you she does get lots of meal worms and bugs but I shall search for vitamins on the weekend to give her too. Thanks for the advice I feel much better
@gander007 @Julie Bird thanks guys! :D
I just realised tonight that Luda is losing a lot of neck feather and it looks patchy and sad! She has been molting a lot which is normal but should her neck be molting like this too? I only went to the vet a couple of weeks ago and he checked for parasites etc. if someone could just let me know...
A quick hello from our new addition Leia, I am smitten and surprisingly Luda has been quite friendly. Will definitely be supervised interaction until she is bigger and I trust them both to play fair. Thank you for all the advice I can breathe again @AimToMisbehave@needlessjunk@Miss Lydia
Thank you that helps a lot as long as they are friends eventually I'm happy. Here's some pictures I just took I know you can tell by size but it's hard when I don't have another to compare with!
Hi guys just looking for some advice. I'm getting a friend for my 9 week old Muscovey duck tomorrow. We are picking up another Muscovey that is 2 weeks old. How do I go about introducing them or are there any tricks to it?
I'm worried that Luda will be protective over his food and me as his mum...
No I'm sure it wasn't intentional :) thank you, he's a Muscovy, 9 weeks old a little bigger than in that photo now. I love his pattern too, so exciting to see all the different looks they can have and what they'll grow up to look like!
I think you have the wrong idea, Luda is a very loved, happy, healthy and social duck. He has access to the whole house, yard, pool etc. yes he sleeps in the laundry but that is part of our house and is not shut up.. He is happy to go nest in there every night and takes himself to bed generally...
I only have one so he isn't too much work inside. He much prefers to play with shoes we leave around then his toys haha. He also loves anything with a string on it! So maybe you could try some sort of cat toy. Luda sleeps in the laundry as it's not too big and he sleeps in the same position...
