Dang it, I swore I was going to be good about following up. Yes. A lovely lad.

    Hand-raised 13 week-old cockerel in Portland, OR

Update: Found a loving home. I'd just delete the original post-but don't see that option. (?)

    Hand-raised 13 week-old cockerel in Portland, OR

Hatched (from a light brown egg) and brooded in our home, now fully integrated with established flock (along with hatch mates), handled daily by adults and children (enjoys a good lap snuggle), free ranges the backyard problem free with two cats and a golden retriever. Outgoing, not...

Sexing 7 week old mix breed chicks.

I don't seem to have any in-between photos. The shoulder color came on shortly after that group shot and the two long tail feathers seemingly sprouted over night just a few days ago, along with the increase in comb. Still not much for wattle.

UPDATE. 13 weeks. The chick labeled #6 in the original photos is a cockerel.

    13 week old cockerel?

Methinks this pullet is pulling the old switch-to-roo.

Sexing 7 week old mix breed chicks.

UPDATE Ten Weeks. Cc: @Keeperofmunchkins @Crazy for Chickens! Virtually no change in the questionably combed #3 & #4. (#3 is pictured to the right of the SLW cockerel and #4 to the left of the RIR/OE) I'm feeling cocky enough (pun intended) that I'm not going to bother wrangling them for...

Black Olive Egger cockerel? 8 weeks old with photos.

I though I might add that this chick's mother had a black comb.

Thank young for your input. I've had others suggest the three rows of peas are a cockerel trait. Is that reliable at all?

Black Olive Egger cockerel? 8 weeks old with photos.

Thank you. I thought there was something about the yellow breaking out on the shoulders that was supposed to indicate male.

Black Olive Egger cockerel? 8 weeks old with photos.

I think I may have gotten this kid's gender figured out but would love some opinions. This chick is almost 8 weeks old and comes from watered down Marans hen parentage with an Olive Egger roo father. The last photo is the sort of cockerel I think it's going to be. -Thank you.

Will do, @Crazy for Chickens! Thank you.

That's exactly where I am right now with them, @Keeperofmunchkins Thanks so much.

#7- White and black chick has a SLW mother and we though RIR father, but where'd he get the muff? He seems the obvious roo. He has a huge frame compared to the others, and feet, chunky legs, white patches on shoulders and chest, a roundish tail, and check out that comb and wattle situation.
