    Best Cage for Traveling?

Thanks for the suggestion! These are all bantams so should be able to fit a few comfortably in a cat carrier. I saw the poultry shipping crates and they look a little intimidating and uncomfortable.

    Best Cage for Traveling?

Thank you! Its a 5 hour drive... not too bad. They are all bantams- silkies and d'uccle's. I have a couple medium sized dog carriers. I also put 5 in a friends' 25" L x 20" W x 19" H rabbit cage not long after I posted this to see if they fit okay and they still had room to move and all lay down...

    Best Cage for Traveling?

Hi all! Not sure if this is the right thread to post under, but I am moving in a month and am trying to prep the travel of 9 adult chickens and 6 juveniles. I have limited room in my SUV and have a friend driving the moving truck for me. I am trying to use something that doesn't take up too much...

Is that 1ml for very young chicks- say two days old?

    Poultry Cell Dosage

Hi all! Can anyone provide a Poultry Cell dosage for a 1 day old baby silkie? It is pretty lethargic after the hatch. It pipped the wrong end and took awhile to fully hatch out. I gave it (and the others) electrolytes but am wondering if Poultry Cell in the water may give it a better boost. They...

    Chick Stopped During Zip! Help!

They all hatched successfully. I almost assisted but when I went to check on the egg, I saw it started to zip so I left it alone and it ended up hatching just fine 🤗 it is extremely tired though so I've been providing electrolytes.

    Chick Stopped During Zip! Help!

The one I was originally concerned about at the start of this thread hatched successfully last night 🤗💜 the one with the yellowish membrane around the pip hole is exactly the same. I heard peeping from it this morning and saw the egg rocking. I think I may go ahead and intervene, just nervous...

    Chick Stopped During Zip! Help!

Okay so I cannot see the beak at all. The hole is just too small but I did have another hatch so thats 2 that have hatched so far. The one with the yellowish membrane is still alive- I do see movement in the shell. Should I go ahead and dab some coconut oil on it? I heard a wet papertowel could...

    Chick Stopped During Zip! Help!

Thank you for the prompt response! I cannot see the beak or hear any chirping as of right now. Its difficult to see in that teeny tiny hole. Im about to take a flashlight and try to check it out that way. Sometimes the light gets the eggs rocking or a peep. I keep the incubator closed during...

    Chick Stopped During Zip! Help!

Okay so now I have another problem. One baby chick hatched and knocked a bunch of eggs all over, when he flipped one over, I noticed it had pipped externally but not in the aircell and the membrane is yellowish brown, which makes me think it is drying out. I'm not sure how long it has been...

    Chick Stopped During Zip! Help!

Thank you for all the info! I really needed it! 😂 I havent had to assist before. He has not made much progress but after another egg hatched, he became a little more motivated from the peeping and started zipping again 🙌 yay!

    Chick Stopped During Zip! Help!

Thank you! It's hard to see the membrane but from what I can see, it appears to be white and healthy. I have seen some conflicting info- some have said that if they start to zip but stop halfway through, it could mean trouble. I've also seen where they shouldn't take long to zip after pipping...

    Chick Stopped During Zip! Help!

Hello everyone. Tomorrow is hatch day but I have 2 external pips already. One pipped early this morning, around 1am and started zipping around 10am. It is now 7pm (9 hours later) and there has been no progress in the zip. If I shine a flashlight in at an angle, I can see movement in the egg...

Rooster Attacked by Fox! Need Advice ASAP

I've attached some pics of Arnies wounds today (with the flash on so it may look extra gross). I literally just finished cleaning them so he is wet in these pictures and there is no neosporin just to show what it looks like without it. Does he have a chance at healing? I feel so bad for him but...
