    maybe find out what chemical/chemicals are used to dye them and do a search about the harmful effects if any, of that/those chemicals... maybe you could do a literature search of some databases, perhaps your local library has access to some scientific literature databases...

    I don't know about dog poop... But, my chickens free-range down in the barnyard where they scratch through poop... They are attracted to the poo piles, I don't think they are actually eating the poo, I think they are eating little bugs that live in and around the poo... I don't know about...
