Is it possible your chick got out? Because in that case it would be easy for a hawk to get it. or a lot of other things. Otherwise, I doubt it was a hawk, it just doesn't seem like their hunting method. They like to drop quickly out of the air on unsuspecting prey. I am not going to say...
I have been menaced by a hawk all summer. Yesterday it killed one of my full grown hens. Just left the carcass with nothing consumed. I am guessing the roosters chased it off.... I saw it take off, but it wasn't by the chicks, who have been penned in due to heavy losses, so I wasn't concerned...

maybe find out what chemical/chemicals are used to dye them and do a search about the harmful effects if any, of that/those chemicals...
maybe you could do a literature search of some databases, perhaps your local library has access to some scientific literature databases...
I don't know about dog poop...
But, my chickens free-range down in the barnyard where they scratch through poop... They are attracted to the poo piles, I don't think they are actually eating the poo, I think they are eating little bugs that live in and around the poo...
