How many chickens can a 50 lb bag of food feed in a month?

I have 3 and it has taken 9 months to finish 100 lbs.

    Lazy cluckers!

I figured they'd be fine since the coop is pretty tightly built. My last flock was fine when we had snow but it's been a pretty dry winter... and year and a half.

    Lazy cluckers!

The treats are occasional, like once a week. I feel that's plenty. It's a mix of Sorghum, Black Oil sunflower seeds, and another seed I don't remember. It was a mix I created for our wild birds for over winter but they appear to all have left. So the chickens have been getting them. They are...

    Lazy cluckers!

Ages ago I had a small flock and had to get rid of them due to moving to an apartment in the city. Now I'm back with a new, significantly smaller flock. I have 3 EEs that are now 38 weeks old and no signs of laying! Lazy suckers! --I feed them a commercial 16% feed (as soon as I'm out I'm...

    New Mexico

Hi friends, I need to thin my flock. I have 6 Rhode Island Red hens, a Silver Maran hen and a Delaware hen available. They're currently in molt (since it's molting season and it's cold) but were real good layers this year. None of them over 7 months old. I'll have some barnyard chicks...

Sadly none of my polish bantums hatched. It's been a bad year for hatching chicken eggs (decent year for the duck eggs though). I need to change that, since I acquired quite a few more chickens and rabbits over the summer.

Very nice! Ya know, I breed my pekins. If I hatch out anymore females I'll keep you in mind. :)

Well, it seems $20 is the going rate for a female Pekin. Mine should be laying soon, unless they decide to suck and wait until spring (they were hatched in the spring) to lay. Helen (my bestest Pekin lady) was laying at 5 months. I plan on keeping her (she's also the noisiest). If you don't...

I dunno. They were really popular earlier this year. I have 3 boys myself, two of which I'll be culling soon. Roasted Duck is tasty.

Hey Gary, do you have any Cream Legbar's left? I've been off the forum for a while and missed your post completly! If you still have some I'd love a couple. What kind of female ducks are you looking for? I have Pekins and am supposed to be (slowly) replacing them with Muscovy. I have 3 girls...

Yep. Should be July 28th. Xander and I are there every swap because it's the only place we can find unmedicated Onate Chick Starter/Grower for a reasonable price ($15.95/50#).
