Oh goodness! I used to be notified whenever someone commented on my posts, but not this time! Thank you all SO much for commenting, I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner! Looks like we're doing poison then. They gotta go. Although, I might use the rodent problem as an excuse to get a cat! To do the...
Okay, so this is extremely embarrassing, but I think we have a rodent problem where our meat rabbits are housed. I went out there tonight to check on them and I got freaked out my something black and fast moving in their area. Our rabbits are kept three feet off the ground and I know the rodents...
We live in an area that has many hawks. So we can only let them free range for about an hour each day and that is with us watching them. I really don't think that they are laying elsewhere although I guess it is still possible.
Here is a recent picture of them. Do you want something closer of them?
No, sorry, I was a little confusing. My Rhode Island Red is already laying and she is a lot older than my other three girls- a Buff, Barred Rock, and an EE, who are not laying.
There isn't any physical damage so thats good.
I currently have 4 chickens. 1 is already laying. My buff Orp is 28 weeks, My EE and Barred Rock are 23 weeks old and none of them are laying. My neighbor said that their Buffs were bullying their younger set of chickens and not allowing them to lay. Once they got rid of their Buffs their...
OH NO!!! ha ha Shoot! This is NOT good. Roosters aren't allowed here. Great. It really stinks to have put so much work into raising girls for them to be mostly boys! Man.
They were advertised as being sexed. I just don't know how common it is for a home breeder to take "exchanges"...
So, I am a novice. I have a flock of 9 and they were supposed to all be pullets. But some of my "girls" are looking a lot more masculine to me. I thought they would all be pullets but if they aren't, what is the proper protocol for getting new girls. Is that bad?
So, first off Mary (2...
Good to know! Thank yall so much. So I dust my girls, but spray the coop and everything? How liberally should everything be sprayed? And it Sevin the same as Poultry Dust?
Thanks for your advice and replies everyone! I was checking her out all over and I found that she is COVERED in these fast crawling tiny bugs that are a tan color. Could they be lice? I have no idea where she would have gotten them. Could lice be causing this kind of a reaction?
I have a 10 week old Buff Orphington who stands under the waterer and drinks. She has stayed there the most of today with her eyes closed. Just standing still. Every minute or so she will get another drink but I haven't seen her eat anything. The rest of the flock just leaves her alone. I don't...
*FOLLOWING* My chickie is doing the exact same thing- but we are just starting summer here. She only sits by the water bowl with her eyes shut and drinks. She is only 10 weeks old and I am worried about her and my 8 other chickies...
Hey. So I'm new to chickens and new to building a coop. I need to know if I am doing this right. We are on a tight student's budget and so I'm building the coop with scrap wood that has been laying around the yard for a couple years, so it isn't pretty. But here is the old shed that we are going...
Please tell me what to do!
My dear, sweet, loveable, three year-old left the door to the garage to get into the brooder open and one of our puppies had a hay day playing with my chickies! They are all somewhat wet from either the water that was spilled in the process of her getting into the...
