I'm in southern New Mexico and I get $4/dozen for my eggs but I've seen them go for as low as $2.50 on Craigslist. The money collected goes to my son anyways. He feeds, waters, collects, cleans, and free ranges them so he deserves it.
Great info BYC, I searched for two minutes before I found this topic that I was looking for. Very nice, indeed. I'm introducing 3 Barred Rock chicks into my flock of 7. 3 RIR's, 2 Orphs, and 2 EE's.
Happy Easter, just wanted to check if you had a rooster still available? They are beautiful Roos and I could use one for breeding.
Thanks in advance,
Mario
Rekindling an old post, I have 7 hens and while they turn in at dusk to hen house they are usually out and about an hour or so before sunrise. Sometimes even earlier. Is this normal? I mean it's pitch black and they kind of wander around the run. I'll turn on the light to the run to check on...

thanks for sharing.
awesome thread, I hadn't give it much thought but I definitely see the advantages to PPE. I use a dust mask while working on my yard due to my allergies anyways.
thanks,

I am relatively new to chickens (Mar 2014) but I introduced two new chickens to my initial flock. I started with 3 RIR-s and 2 EE's. I had a friend give me a couple orp's a couple of weeks back. When we first introduced them they were very skittish around me and truthfully one still...
Its coming together, I'm about to start a new coop and run project too. I'm still in the design phase but I am already stockpiling some materials for the build. I figure I'll start in a couple of weeks. Before you know it, you will have some happy chickens. What breed of chickens are you...
I planted a 16 plant garden in beginning of 2014 and my chickens took a liking to it quickly. Truthfully so did my dog, she really enjoys digging up loose dirt. I went to an 18" wire mesh fence around it and the chickens never quite figured out that they could easily get over it and my Bella...
