It turned out that 4 are male, 1 female (Speckles). She’s laying regular, fertile eggs…maybe the lonely bachelors will luck out and she’ll hatch a few hens for them.
I’m so sorry for your loss. We can’t possibly predict every outcome of every situation. You loved these guys and devoted your time, attention, affection, and emotion. We all know you’re a good bird mama; try not to be so hard on yourself… not your fault. I know you miss him. :( 🩷
Oh, whew. I’ve seen some nasty wounds on coturnix posts. I’m a first time button mama, and looking at upgrading the brooder to a much larger enclosure. I’m just worried I may have a large male to female ratio. I can’t tell. 😕
