I have 12 button quail chicks just over a week old. I am wondering if I can keep them all together as they age and keep them in the same cage? They are going to be indoor birds in a 4ft by 4ft by 3ft enclosure. Will this be enough space for them?

That's a bit tight but doable as long as there are plenty of hiding places. The general rule is at least 1 square foot per bird, but you need to subtract space used by feeders, waterers, sand baths, and hiding places.

You may end up with some fighting, but in my experience, button quail violence is quite tame compared to coturnix quail violence.

Oh, whew. I’ve seen some nasty wounds on coturnix posts. I’m a first time button mama, and looking at upgrading the brooder to a much larger enclosure. I’m just worried I may have a large male to female ratio. I can’t tell. 😕

If you mean 3 ft. tall, that isn't tall enough, should be at least 4 ft. tall as I understand it.

It's frustrating that I can't believe what I've heard many, many times in my research.
Mine rarely try to even fly, when they were young they would fly quite a bit, especially when they were a week old until they feathered out but after that they rarely try nor do they flush when something startles them....idk, maybe mine are 'freaks'! :lau
