'Remember when' or 'these kids today' nostalgia thread for old fogies like me

Never underestimate power of the combined forces of 'poor' and 'bored' in the devious mind a child!

And then there was the time a bunch of us kids obtained a giant appliance box in the middle of a snowy winter. We tied together our small fleet of flexible flyers in a sort of a train and tied the box to the top of the array of sleds ... closed end up front. Piled in through the back with...

She sure sounds broody to me. They'll pluck their own breast feathers out when going broody to create a 'brood patch' for warmer skin to egg contact. The growling and puffing up all sound natural broodiness to me too.

They're rare these days ... especially in NJ. When we spot 'em, we refer to them as 'free range children'

Someday .... Many years from now ... When folks are feeling sentimental, they'll start waxing poetic about the 'good old days' and talk about how great it was to talk nostalgia on BYC ;)

    Don't eat that.

You need two Guinni (plural for Guinness) ... one for you and one for the flock ... aren't there endless articles about the benefits of fermented grains and/or hops all over these boards? ;) If you pour two Guinni and then discover they are not interested, I figure a Guinness in each hand...

I was going to comment that reading it backwards would be a tale of a man who gets DUMBER about the care of his chickens, but I realized that I can't prove that to be true! I seem to hold onto ignorance as if it were a virtue!

    Eclipse preparation for chickens

As far as I know, there is nothing damaging to the eyes with an eclipse unless you're trying to look at it. Animals tend not to do this. Just to be sure, I went looking for more info and none was to be found ... if you have a source for a health rise in this PLEASE SHARE! Now, last eclipse I...

Starter feeding problems/question and grit quantity help

In my small yard and small flock ... they get a little grit around the soil and all ... I spread around chick sized grit when babies are being raised ... but when I see the hens congregating in the stony/gravelly driveway, I figure they're 'at the dentist'

Take a couple of their actual eggs ... after dark, put them I the nesting boxes so they are there in the morning. You might also try some nesting herbs.
