We`re not sure what they are, someone dumped them and we took them in. I guess we`ll have to wait how they turn out :)

I was spending some time with the chicks this morning. The darker one we named Dottie, because of all the dots she has. The lighter one, my son named Dolly, but I`m really starting to think we should rename him Donnie 😂 His tailfeathers are a different shape than Dottie`s, so I`ll give it...

Here are some pics of my hens: Miesje, our olderst, wyandotte bantam and princess Peach, lohmann brown. Miesje and princess Zelda, lavender araucana in the front and princess Peach and Betty (GLW) in the back. Here`s a better pic of Betty. We have since swapped out the omlet coop for a...

    Breed and sex help please!

Number 1 is a golden laced wyandotte and a pullet. Cockerels have a different colouring with dark shoulders. This was my GLW roo at 5 weeks Number 6 looks very suspicious to me, likely a roo.

I know, really hoping we don`t have a roo on our hands, we`re not allowed to keep them, where I live, sadly...

Yes, I`ve just fetched my radiant chick brooder heater from the attic. They did fine last night, temperature didn`t drop under 12C and in the shed it`s even warmer, since the shed`s in the sun all day and stays warmer at night with the door closed. But tonight temperatures will drop to 6C, so...

Thank you so much everyone! What a warm welcome! I will try to figure out how to put pics here the right way, so I can introduce my hens and chicks. It was not totally selfless to save them, when I saw them on the board, where the people that saved them put them on (they couldn`t keep them) a...

Thank you for your feedback! I`m so curious to see how they grow out. Not that it matters, they are supersweet anyways. Maybe I should provide them with some extra warmth then, if they look younger. i did put them in a little barn overnight, where it is much warmer overnight. At night it gets...

Hi everyone, I`ve been reading here for a couple of years and finally decided to post. I`m a woman, 46 yo and living in the Netherlands. We have 4 hens and 2 chicks that we rescued today. Our oldest hen is 4 yo, that`s when I first started my chicken adventure (and reading here). They...

We just rescued some chicks today, people had put them at the side of the road in a small container. Luckily someone else took them home and decided to find a good home for them. That`s how they came to live with us and our other four hens. They are about 6 weeks old and supercute, sweet chicks...
